Yolanda Wood est experte en littérature caribéenne. Egalement critique d'art et commissaire elle est aujourd'hui la référence incontournable en matière d'art contemporain de la Caraïbe. Yolanda Wood vit et travaille à Cuba. Son temps se divise entre ses étudaints de l'Université et les projets culturels de la Casas de Las Americas dont elle fait partie.
Yolanda Wood connaît très bien la Caraïbe, étant très sollicitée pour des colloques, conférences, expositions et autres manifestations autour de la thématique de l'identité caraïbe. Elle a plusieurs publications à son actif et une très bonne connaissance des écrivains et des artistes dont elle suit de très près le travail depuis plus de 20 ans. Yolanda a notamment participé au projet d'exposition internationales LATITUDES, de la commissaire Régine Cuzin, en publiant des introductions de catalogues et en invitant l'exposition à la Biennale de la Havane en 2009.

Dix artistes de L'Artocarpe vont travailler sur le projet en partenariat avec Art Public, une collection d'art contemporain en Guadeloupe, qui est de mettre sur pied une exposition des oeuvres de la collection en interrogeant le processus de présentation de ces dernières. Huit de ces dix artistes ont pu poser leurs questions à Yolanda Wood, en présence d'Emile Romney et de Mireille Bandou, les responsables d'Art Public qui ont initié la publication du même nom, ainsi qu'en présence de Vanessa, Co-directrice d'Art Bemao.
L'occasion de découvrir Yolanda, son parcours, d'avoir son point de vue sur les collections d'art aujourd'hui et avoir des conseils d'experts.
Les artistes présents ont surtout pu laisser un aperçu de leur travail à Yolanda, qui tient un rôle important dans la collecte des informations des artistes de la Caraïbe et dans la sélection des artistes invités à la Biennale de la Havane...

Yolanda Wood is from Cuba. Specialist in Caribbean literature, she is also a curator and a art critique. Her work has been published intensively throughout the Caribbean and beyond and has become a real reference among art professionals. She has been part of the LATITUDES exhibitions curated by Régine Cuzin, as art critique and more importantly as jury selected the entire show to be part of the I0th Edition of the Havana Bienale.
While in Guadeloupe for the 2nd edition of the Caribbean Writers Congress, Yolanda Wood accepted to meet artists from L'Artocarpe and discuss with them of her role in the publication Art Public, as well as her personal experience as a curator, art critique over the last 20 years.
Eight out of the ten artists from L'Artocarpe who are to work on the project "In the skin of a curator", reusing artworks from the publication Art Public to present a concept for an exhibition of artworks produced by peer artists, rather their own, were able to ask questions to Yolanda and get direct thoughts from her. More importantly, as Yolanda has a crucial role in gathering information on artists from the Caribbean, as well as selecting artists for the Havana Biennale, artists present at this meeting were able to hand out their own portfolio to Yolanda, for her to take back to Cuba...
