Karim Bléus est comme beaucoup d'artiste Haïtien, d'une maturité incroyable! Il travaille tant les matières nobles (chêne, acajou...) que les objets trouvés pour façonner des sculptures, des peintures qui vont à l'encontre des tableaux naïfs trop souvent associés à l'art du pays d'Haïti.
Karim est représenté par les ateliers Jérôme en Haïti.

Heureux de pouvoir venir travailler à L'Artocarpe, d'où il espère de belles rencontres et des créations riches, Karim est cependant préoccupé par la réalité de la vie quotidienne de ses proches, la petite famille dont il a la charge au pays. Afin de pouvoir subvenir à leurs besoins durant son absence, Karim a besoin de vendre ses oeuvres.
Il est arrivé avec une de ses sculptures qu'il espère bien laisser chez un collectionneur privé de Guadeloupe!

Karim Bléus (sculpture, painting) is a young artist represented by the Jérôme Workshop&Gallery in Haiti. The artist has barely left his country and coming to L'Artocarpe is the opportunity to discover other techniques, other artists and other lifestyles.
Karim's residency is made possible by our main foreign partner Aerts Collaboratory (through HIVOS) and the French Ministry Cultural's Office (DAC) in Guadeloupe.

Karim's work is very matured: he mixes noble material (oak and so on) with objects found in the street. His paintings and sculptures are miles aways from the traditional paintings often associated with Haiti.
Although Karim is very happy to be one of the two finalists of our residency programme, he is very concerned about the livelihood of his family, especially his own baby son and wife. To enable to support them, while he is staying at L'Artocarpe until the 28th January 2012, Karim would like to sell a sculpture he came with in order to send the money back home. Karim is taking part in many activities run by other artists: he is seeing here at the National Scene L'Artchipel, in Basse-Terre, where he has helped the crew to set up the photographic exhibition 44 JOU, organised by photographers Nicolas Nabajoth and Daniel Goudrouffe with the participation of the following members from L'Artocarpe: Hélène Valenzuela, Philippe Virapin, Yves Bercion et Joëlle Ferly.

Karim prend part aux actualités artistiques en donnant un coup de main ici à la mise en place de l'exposition 44 JOU à la Scéne nationale L'Artchipel, à Basse-Terre. L'exposition est un projet des photographes Daniel Goudrouffe et Nicolas Nabajoth auquel ont participé les membres de L'Artocarpe: Hélène Valenzuela, Philippe Virapin, Yves Bercion et Joëlle Ferly.
